The Big Cheat is a short film about an underground, student-run cheating ring - a well-oiled machine that churns out A-level assignments for those who can afford it - and its fall from power when Drew Daniels, journalist for the school newspaper, threatens to expose the operation.

The Big Cheat was created in conjunction with the Workbench Productions' Filmmaking Apprenticeship, which offered this unique program to high school students in Newton, MA. The Apprenticeship provided an opportunity for over 100 students to work on a professional film shoot, both in front of and behind the camera. Paired with members of the crew, the students used their creative, technical, and practical knowledge to gain varied experience, from designing sets to learning about complex lighting set-ups and sound recording, and even acting in featured roles alongside professional SAG actors.
